Hj Askury Bin Abd. Kadir is an outstanding geologist with 39 years of experience in the field. He is 62 years old and how based in Ipoly, Perak. He is currently the expert technical advisor for Geomag Engineering. He obtained his BSc (Hons) in Geology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Then, he continued his postgraduate studies at the Leeds University, in United Kingdom, achieving MSc in Engineering Geology. Upon completing his studies, he actively involves in research projects under GSM and IMG. He then becomes the Editor-In-Chief for Minerals and Geoscience Department, UTP in 2014. He later joined UP as a lecturer (Associate Professor) at Department of Geosciences, UP and was there until 2019.

Hj Askury had involves in many projects since he started working as a geologist. One of the projects that he had involved are the Joint Project GSM-BGR (Germany) on ‘Tin-bearing and tin-barren granite, primary tin mineralization. The projects is a three phase project from 1984 to 1992. The first phase of the project covers Bujang Melaka, Perak. The second phase covers Kuantan-Dungun area, Pahang-Terengganu and the last phase covers “Treatise of SEA tin belt (Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia)’. Next, he involved in the “Digital Compilation of Geoscientific Map (DCGM) in East and Southeast Asia” project under CCOP and GSJ (Geological Survey of Japan) coordination. He acts as the national representatives for the project. Besides that, he involves in the “Malaysia- Thailand Joint Geological Survey Committee”: Geological Correlation project for Transect I (Sadao-Gubir), II (Batu Melintang-Sg.Kolok, III (Betong-Pengkalan Hulu) and IV (Bt Batu Putih)”. In this project, he acts as the expert panel group which monitor and advice the developments of the project.

During his time working as a geologist, Hj. Askury has been able to publish numerous technical papers. Here are some of the selected publications by him. 1) Askury, A.K., 1986.
